Staff and Partners
Sister Juliet Namiiro, Home Administrator – Sister Juliet is the head of Providence Home, managing daily operations and the
care of the children as well as teaching vocational skills in the home. Born and raised in Mukono District, she understands the
needs of these children and their families.

Sister Veronica, Bakery Manager – Sister Veronica has the large task of managing Kevina Bakery as well as coordinating the
other Bake for Life activities in Uganda.

Sister Maria Goretti, Operations Supervisor – Sister Goretti assists in the daily operations of the Home and the care of the
children as well as teaching the tailoring skills.

Sister Bernadette, Bakery Production Officer – Sister Berna directs production and quality control at the bakery.

Sister Sarah, Bakery Accountant. – Sister Sarah is the accountant for the bakery, as well as helping to care for the children.

The role of the Board in the Home
  •  Hold meetings three times  a year
  •  Evaluate the Home’s performance
  •  Make Policies for the running of the Home
  •  Look into and determine the management of the financial status of the Home
  •  Ensure proper management of the Home’s projects
  •  Give accountability of the state of the Home to the Regional Superior of Central Region

The Peace Corps –
The Peace Corps is in its third year of involvement with Providence Home. In the last two years, Christine
Spurny worked in Community Based Rehabilitation Program and organized the medical care of the children. Currently Kathy
Westerman is there helping to the manage vocational Training Department and CBR program.

Bake for Life – Headquartered in the Netherlands and started by the wives of Dutch bakers, Bake for Life provided technical
support, equipment, and the building for Kevina Bakery. It is dedicated to empowering the people with disabilities throughout
Africa as well as fostering a love and appreciation for the craft of baking.

Lillian Fonds – Also headquartered in the Netherlands, Lillian Fonds provides sponsorships for the care, education, and
treatment of children with disabilities. They are helping many of the people with epilepsy and disabilities in Uganda.

Uganda Children’s Trust and British Airways: UCT provides material support for ongoing projects at the home such as
construction of a dormitory and transportation. It also arranges the visit of the optometrists and the free eyeglasses.  They also
pay for a full time occupation therapist and necessary training materials.

Mukisa Foundation – in collaboration with Uganda Children’s Trust, Mukisa ensures that the home gets a qualified
Occupational Therapist and follows up on rehabilitation/activities of daily living for the children with disabilities.

Irish Embassy – The Irish embassy has contributed to the construction of a number of buildings at Providence Home.


Caritas for Children – Caritas for Children is a child sponsorship program that provides school fees, clothes, medical care,
food, shoes, counseling and school supplies for some children at the home and in the surrounding community.
